But the Italian has contradicted his previous claim that he has not been contacted by the Blues owner since pitching up at Stamford Bridge last summer.

Sarri faces an uncertain future following the 6-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

After the game, he told the Italian press that he “never” hears from Abramovich so does not “know what to expect”.

Velox SportsTV understands Sarri has been given a stay of execution to rescue Chelsea’s season from failure.

But, speaking at a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League clash against Malmo, Sarri revealed he is happy for his communication to be limited to director Marina Granovskaia.

When asked if he has spoken to Abramovich, he said: “Not in this week. It depends on the president. It’s not never, not very often. Not never.

“The interview was in Italian, I am better than you at this. I am spoken to him, not this week.

“I would like to speak to someone of the club, not necessarily the owner. I speak to Marina and for me that is enough.”

The trip to Malmo offers a chance for Chelsea to get back to winning ways after a difficult week.

And when asked how things have been since the City defeat, Sarri said: “Not too easy of course. After a match like in Manchester it is normal.

“It is not easy to play tomorrow after 6-0, we want to play well and win.

“It will not be really very easy. They are compact and solid and have a good defensive phase. We want to win.”

Sarri also shot down suggestions that the Chelsea squad is difficult to motivate.

“The last match wasn’t a problem of motivation,” he said. “In the first four or five minutes we started well.

“We were not able to react. We need to solve the problems. I think sometimes as the match in Tottenham in Premier League we had not the right approach, this match was different.

“We had good training, we had the right motivation. We conceded and then weren’t able to do anything.”
