Crutchlow who is fifth on the overall MotoGP standings is out of Sunday’s event after breaking his ankle in practice.
The 32-year-old was initially fifth fastest in Friday morning’s session before a heavy crash at turn one at Phillip Island.

“We had to take him to Melbourne Alfred City Hospital where he will now undergo surgery to correct the injury.” Honda said in an official statement.
Crutchlow earlier finished in the second spot behind his fellow Honda colleague, Marc Marquez in last Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix.
The Briton is now occupying the fifth place on the overall table with two more races to prosecute after Australia.
Marquez who picked up his fifth MotoGP title wished Crutchlow a quick recovery on a post he made on Twitter.
