EUGENIE BOUCHARD tries – and fails – to swim in a bizarre mermaid outfit during her stay on Sir Richard Branson’s exclusive island.

The 24-year-old Canadian is part of the Brit billionaire’s pro-am tennis event being held on Necker Island in the Caribbean.

Sir Richard’s lavish end-of-year bash is the world’s most exclusive and s*xiest tournament.

And Bouchard – who thinks nothing of dropping £20,000 on a watch – treated her 1.8 million Instagram followers to a taste of the high life by posting a video of herself in a bikini in a swimming pool.

She captioned the clip: “Don’t try swim with a mermaid tale.”

And she followed the comment with a crying laughing face emoji.

Seemingly giving up on trying to become a mermaid, the 88th best player in the world took off the tail and wrote: “It was so hard to swim in this thing.”

Her Instagram story also showed her taking in the action from the doubles tournament and letting her hair down in parties.

The Necker Cup sees 16 players or legends from the ATP and WTA tours team up with 16 amateur sides, with the competition lasting six days.

Danish superstar Caroline Wozniacki – who won this year’s Australian Open – has also taken up the invite from Sir Richard.

Branson’s luxury island is one of the world’s most exclusive resorts, with around 100 staff catering for up to 34 guests.

It costs £40,000 a night to stay there – or nothing if you are a pal of the Virgin tycoon.

Harry Styles, Mariah Carey, Ronnie Wood and Barack Obama have all been guests on Necker Island in the past.

Sir Richard and retired pro Daniel Nestor won the Necker Cup on Wednesday by beating actor Kurt Long and Mike Bryan in the final.
