Mayweather and Pacquiao added to the belief that a rematch could be on the cards when they met at an NBA game, much like they had done prior to their 2015 fight being agreed.

The fight, despite reportedly holding less interest, is set to make big money if it does go ahead.

Dan Rafael of ESPN believes the fight would still sell over two million Pay-Per-View buys.

The last fight between the two sold a record breaking 4.6 million Pay-Per-View buys, making in excess of $400m (£347m) – though this figure is not expected to be matched this time around.

Including ticket sales at the venue, the fight was able to generate over $600m, making it the biggest money event in boxing history.

Rafael believes that a rematch would still make well over $200m, even if it was unable to match the number of PPV sales that their first fight made.

Both fighters took home a guaranteed $100m dollar purse following their first fight in 2015, and a 60/40 split was agreed in favour of the winner on the rest of the revenue.

According to a report by Forbes, Showtime is expected to televise the potential fight between the two.

The first fight was televised by a deal between HBO and Showtime that helped increase the box office revenue.

Both fighters have made their intentions clear on social media in the past.

If they are able to negotiate a deal, “Pac-man” and “Money” could be in for yet another big money showdown.
