Jermain Defoe will join Rangers’ winter training camp in Tenerife after agreeing to a sign an 18 month loan deal.
Record Sport can confirm the former England international striker HAS agreed to put pen to paper on the stunning move after Bournemouth agreed to let him leave the south coast half way through his three year deal.

And we understand Defoe is already making plans to be part of the travelling party when his new team mates fly out to the Canary Islands on Sunday to start preparing for the second half of the season.
It’s unclear what percentage of Defoe’s bumper wages the Ibrox club have agreed to cover as part of the deal to bring the 36-year-old north.
But Defoe is believed to have been raking in between £65,000 and £80,000 a week since moving to The Vitality Stadium at the start of last season.
Record Sport revealed last summer that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard had placed Defoe’s name at the top of his wish list of signing targets but the numbers involved scuppered his hopes.
A source close to the player confirmed this afternoon: “The deal has been completed and Jermain will be signing for Rangers for 18 months. It is his intention to travel to Tenerife for their warm weather training amp at the weekend.

“It’s all happened very quickly today. There had been speculation for a while but it was all pushed through during two or three hours of talks between the clubs this afternoon.”
