Gers are working on deals for Premier League veterans Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis.
An 18-month loan deal for Defoe has been sorted, and he’s set to be joined by Southampton midfielder Davis this month.
But Rangers are also thinking ahead to the summer, and have today put two soon-to-be free agents through medical examinations.
Jordan Jones, the Kilmarnock midfielder, and Dundee’s Glen Kamara both look set for moves to Glasgow at the end of the season for nothing.
Reporter Luke Shanley issued an update on Rangers’ transfer business on Sky Sports News.
He said: “We understand that Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara have been having medicals with Rangers today with a view to signing pre-contract agreements.
“Both out of contract in the summer with their respective clubs.
“They are players, certainly Jordan Jones is one that’s been on Rangers’ radar for a while.
“With Kilmarnock doing so well, Jordan Jones is a big part of that this season.
“They are two men that Rangers want to sign and it looks as though they’ll have to wait at least until the summer, unless any deal can be done before that.
“But we understand they were undergoing medicals today and Rangers are looking to tie them down.”
Shanley also issued an update on Defoe and Davis.
“They’ve been able to sign Jermain Defoe on that 18-month loan deal,” he added.
“He is somebody the Rangers fans will want to see and also Steven Davis, a return of an old face potentially. That is one they also want to see.
“A man who has been there and done it before.
“So Rangers certainly looking to add a bit of experience and also looking to the future with some of the players [they want].”
